Ingredients

  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce - 4 leaves
  • Mayonnaise - 1/4 cup
  • Pickles - 8 slices
  • Buns - 4
  • Vegetable oil - 2 cups
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1/4 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Hot sauce - 1/4 cup
  • Buttermilk - 1 cup
  • Chicken breasts - 4 boneless, skinless

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken breasts and marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge chicken in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere.
  4. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. Toast buns in a toaster or on a grill until lightly browned.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a fried chicken breast.
  7. Add pickles, lettuce, and tomato slices on top of the chicken.
  8. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve hot.
