Saag

Saag Paneer is a classic Indian dish made with spinach and paneer cheese.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cilantro - For garnish
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - To taste
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Paneer cheese - 8 oz, cubed
  • Spinach - 1 lb, washed and chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
  4. Add chopped tomato and green chili. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add chopped spinach and cook until wilted.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.
  8. Return the mixture to the pan and add cubed paneer cheese.
  9. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  10. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
  11. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  12. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
