Queque Seco

Queque Seco is a traditional Costa Rican pound cake. It's simple, moist, and delicious, perfect for a snack or dessert.

Ingredients

  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • All - purpose flour - 2 cups
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Eggs - 4
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Butter - 1 cup, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk until just blended.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
