Onion and Sausage Pizza

This delicious pizza is topped with caramelized onions, savory sausage, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Fresh basil - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/4 cup, grated
  • Mozzarella cheese - 2 cups, shredded
  • Pizza sauce - 1/2 cup
  • Italian sausage - 8 ounces, crumbled
  • Onion - 1 large, thinly sliced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Pizza dough - 1 pound

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  4. In the same skillet, cook the crumbled sausage until browned and cooked through.
  5. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  7. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
  8. Top with the caramelized onions, cooked sausage, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil.
  10. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
