Onion and Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Creamy mashed potatoes with the delicious flavors of onion and garlic.

Ingredients

  • Chives - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Butter - 1/2 cup
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Potatoes - 2 pounds, peeled and cubed

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
  2. While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the cooked onion and garlic mixture, butter, milk, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or fork until smooth and creamy. Adjust the seasoning if needed.
  5. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and garnish with chopped chives.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
