Ingredients

  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Beef broth - 1 cup
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 tablespoon
  • Mock tender roast - 3 pounds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Season the mock tender roast with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the roast on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the roast from the pot and set aside.
  6. In the same pot, add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
  7. Return the roast to the pot and cover with a lid.
  8. Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and roast for 2.5-3 hours, or until the roast is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  9. Remove the roast from the pot and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  10. While the roast is resting, prepare the gravy. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and water to make a slurry.
  11. Pour the slurry into the pot with the cooking liquid and whisk until thickened.
  12. Slice the roast and serve with the gravy.
