Lebanese Shish Tawook

Shish Tawook is a popular Lebanese grilled chicken dish marinated in a flavorful blend of spices and yogurt.

Ingredients

  • Skewers - 4-6
  • Cherry tomatoes - 1 cup
  • Bell peppers - 2, cut into chunks
  • Red onion - 1, cut into chunks
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Plain yogurt - 1/2 cup
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1/4 cup
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Boneless chicken breasts - 1.5 lbs, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, yogurt, paprika, cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto skewers, alternating with chunks of red onion, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes.
  5. Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred.
  6. Serve the Lebanese Shish Tawook hot with rice, salad, and garlic sauce.
