Lap Khmer

Lap Khmer is a traditional Cambodian salad made with marinated beef, fresh herbs, and lime dressing.

Ingredients

  • Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup, crushed
  • Bird's eye chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Fresh lemongrass - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Fresh basil leaves - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Fresh cilantro leaves - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Fresh mint leaves - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Red onion - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1/4 cup
  • Beef sirloin - 1 pound, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the lime juice, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the red onion, mint leaves, cilantro leaves, basil leaves, lemongrass, and chili.
  4. Heat a skillet over high heat and add the marinated beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.
  5. Transfer the cooked beef to the bowl with the herb mixture and toss to combine.
  6. Garnish with crushed peanuts and serve immediately.
