Khaliun Guril

Khaliun Guril is a traditional Mongolian dish made with ground meat, vegetables, and spices, wrapped in dough and steamed.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 1 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 3 cups
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Potato - 1 medium, grated
  • Carrot - 1 medium, grated
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Ground beef - 500 grams

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, grated carrot, grated potato, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and water to make a dough.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin circles.
  4. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each dough circle.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges by pressing with your fingers.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a steamer or a large pot with a steamer basket.
  7. Arrange the filled dough pockets in the steamer basket, leaving some space between them.
  8. Steam for about 30-40 minutes, or until the dough is cooked and the filling is cooked through.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
