Khaja Set

Khaja Set is a traditional Nepali sweet dish made with layers of crispy fried dough, sugar syrup, and nuts.

Ingredients

  • Oil - For frying
  • Pistachios - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Almonds - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Cashews - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee - 1/2 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and ghee. Mix well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and pliable.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a thin circle.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  6. Fry the rolled dough circles until they turn golden brown and crispy. Drain excess oil on a paper towel.
  7. In a separate saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and simmer until the sugar dissolves and a syrup is formed.
  8. Add cardamom powder to the syrup and mix well.
  9. Dip the fried dough circles into the sugar syrup, ensuring they are coated well.
  10. Place the syrup-coated dough circles on a serving plate and sprinkle with chopped cashews, almonds, and pistachios.
  11. Serve the Khaja Set as a sweet dessert.
