These classic glazed donuts are soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. They are a delightful treat for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Milk - 2 tablespoons
  • Powdered sugar - 1 cup
  • Vegetable oil - For frying

  • Milk - 3/4 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder - 2 teaspoons
  • Granulated sugar - 1/2 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute.
  5. Roll out the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness and cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil, frying 2-3 at a time. Cook for about 2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  8. Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Dip each donut into the glaze, coating both sides, and place them on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
  11. Serve the donuts fresh and enjoy!
