Cornbread

This classic cornbread recipe is moist, slightly sweet, and perfect as a side dish or on its own.

Ingredients

  • Butter - 1/4 cup, melted
  • Eggs - 2
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Cornmeal - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cornbread to cool for a few minutes before serving.
