This is a traditional recipe for macaroni and cheese, featuring a creamy cheese sauce and a crispy breadcrumb topping.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Cheddar cheese - 2 cups, shredded
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • All - purpose flour - 1/4 cup
  • Butter - 1/4 cup
  • Macaroni - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour until smooth.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, then bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  5. Remove from the heat and stir in the cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add the macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
