Chrok Mnoas Pao

Chrok Mnoas Pao is a traditional Cambodian dish made with marinated grilled pork and served in a steamed bun.

Ingredients

  • Sriracha sauce - To taste
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Cucumber - 1, thinly sliced
  • Steamed buns - 4
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemongrass - 2 stalks, minced
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Pork shoulder - 1 pound, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, lemongrass, fish sauce, sugar, soy sauce, and black pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Add the sliced pork to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the marinated pork slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Remove the pork from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, steam the buns until soft and warm.
  7. To assemble the Chrok Mnoas Pao, place a few slices of grilled pork inside each steamed bun.
  8. Top with sliced cucumber, chopped cilantro, and a drizzle of Sriracha sauce.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
