Com Thit Nuong

Com Thit Nuong is a popular Vietnamese dish made with grilled marinated pork served over steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • Lime wedges - 4
  • Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup, crushed
  • Mint leaves - 1/4 cup
  • Lettuce - 4 leaves
  • Cucumber - 1, sliced
  • Steamed rice - 4 cups
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Lemongrass - 2 stalks, minced
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Pork shoulder - 1 lb, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, lemongrass, fish sauce, sugar, soy sauce, and vegetable oil to make the marinade.
  2. Add the sliced pork to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the marinated pork slices for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Remove the pork from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
  6. To serve, place a scoop of steamed rice on each plate. Top with grilled pork slices.
  7. Garnish with cucumber slices, lettuce leaves, mint leaves, crushed peanuts, and lime wedges.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
