Yema
Yema is a popular Filipino sweet treat made from condensed milk and egg yolks.
Ingredients - Serves 20
- Cooking oil - For greasing
- Granulated sugar - 1 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Egg yolks - 8
- Condensed milk - 1 can (14 oz)
Let's Get Started
- In a non-stick pan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the condensed milk and egg yolks to the pan. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and starts to come away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Grease your hands with cooking oil and shape the mixture into small balls or desired shapes.
- Roll the shaped yema balls in granulated sugar until fully coated.
- Place the coated yema balls in small paper cups or on a lined baking sheet.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up before serving.
