Tianbula
Tianbula is a popular street food in Taiwan, often referred to as Taiwanese Tempura. It's a deep-fried dish made from fish paste and various seasonings.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For deep frying
- Water - 50 ml
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- White pepper powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Sweet potato starch - 100 grams
- Fish paste - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, mix the fish paste, sweet potato starch, green onion, white pepper powder, salt, sugar, and water together until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into small patties or balls.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 180°C (350°F).
- Carefully drop the patties or balls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the tianbula with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
