Tempeh Bacon Blt
A vegan twist on the classic BLT, this sandwich features smoky tempeh bacon, crisp lettuce, and juicy tomatoes.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegan mayonnaise - To taste
- Tomato - 1 large, sliced
- Lettuce - 4 leaves
- Bread - 8 slices
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Liquid smoke - 1 teaspoon
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Tempeh - 8 ounces
Let's Get Started
- Slice the tempeh into thin strips.
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, and garlic powder. Add the tempeh strips and marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the tempeh strips and cook until crispy, about 5 minutes on each side.
- Toast the bread slices.
- Spread vegan mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
- Assemble the sandwiches by layering the tempeh bacon, lettuce, and tomato between two slices of bread.
