This unique twist on the classic French dessert combines the flavors of tarte tatin and cappuccino for a delicious and indulgent treat.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Cocoa powder - For dusting
- Whipped cream - For serving
- Milk - 1 cup
- Espresso - 1/2 cup, strong
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Apples - 4 large, peeled, cored, and sliced
- Puff pastry - 1 sheet
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into a circle slightly larger than your baking dish.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and cinnamon, and cook until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is caramelized.
- Add the sliced apples to the skillet and cook until they are tender and coated in the caramel sauce.
- Transfer the caramelized apples to a greased baking dish and arrange them in an even layer.
- Place the puff pastry circle on top of the apples, tucking in the edges.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
- While the tart is baking, prepare the cappuccino. In a small saucepan, heat the espresso and milk over medium heat until hot.
- Using a frother or whisk, froth the milk until it becomes creamy and foamy.
- Once the tart is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- To serve, slice the tart into wedges and place each slice in a bowl. Pour the cappuccino over the tart, and top with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder.
- Enjoy the unique combination of flavors in this Tarte Tatin Cappuccino!
