Prinsesstårta
Prinsesstårta, also known as Princess Cake, is a traditional Swedish dessert consisting of layers of sponge cake, pastry cream, whipped cream, and marzipan.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Green food coloring - A few drops
- Raspberry jam - 1/4 cup
- Powdered sugar - For dusting
- Marzipan - 1/2 pound
- Whipped cream - 2 cups
- Pastry cream - 2 cups
- Sponge cake - 1 (9-inch) round
Let's Get Started
- Prepare the sponge cake according to the recipe instructions and let it cool completely.
- Slice the sponge cake horizontally into three equal layers.
- Spread raspberry jam on the bottom layer of the cake.
- In a separate bowl, mix the pastry cream with a few drops of green food coloring until desired shade is achieved.
- Spread a layer of green pastry cream on top of the raspberry jam.
- Place the second layer of sponge cake on top of the green pastry cream.
- Spread a layer of whipped cream on top of the second layer of sponge cake.
- Place the final layer of sponge cake on top.
- Cover the entire cake with whipped cream, including the sides.
- Roll out the marzipan into a thin, large circle.
- Carefully drape the marzipan over the cake, smoothing it out and trimming any excess.
- Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar.
- Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Slice and enjoy!
