- Dredge the shrimp or roast beef slices in the cornmeal mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

- Fry the shrimp or roast beef until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Spread the remoulade sauce on the cut sides of the French bread rolls.
- Layer the lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and fried shrimp or roast beef on the bottom halves of the rolls.
- Cover with the top halves of the rolls and serve immediately.
