  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Fry the dough balls in batches until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  5. In a separate saucepan, heat the honey over medium heat until it becomes liquid.
  6. Add the fried dough balls to the honey and stir until they are all coated.
  7. Arrange the balls in a mound on a serving platter and decorate with sprinkles or chopped nuts.
  8. Let the pignolata cool before serving.
