Moroccan Seafood Bisteya
A traditional Moroccan dish, Bisteya is a sweet and savory pie usually made with chicken. This version uses a mix of seafood for a coastal twist.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Cinnamon - For dusting
- Powdered sugar - For dusting
- Butter - 1/2 cup, melted
- Phyllo dough - 1 package
- Moroccan spice blend - 1 tablespoon
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Parsley - 1 bunch, chopped
- Cilantro - 1 bunch, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Mixed seafood - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large pan, sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
- Add the seafood, cilantro, parsley, lemon juice, and Moroccan spice blend. Cook until the seafood is done.
- On a clean surface, lay out a sheet of phyllo dough. Brush it with melted butter, then add another sheet on top. Repeat until you have a stack of 6 sheets.
- Place the seafood mixture in the center of the phyllo stack. Fold the edges over to create a pie.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the phyllo is golden and crispy.
- Dust with powdered sugar and cinnamon before serving.
