Mexican Torta

Ingredients - Serves 2

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Slice the crusty rolls in half horizontally.
  3. Spread mayonnaise on both sides of the rolls.
  4. Spread refried beans on the bottom half of each roll.
  5. Layer avocado, tomato, lettuce, onion, jalapeno, and cilantro on top of the beans.
  6. Squeeze lime juice over the vegetables and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Add grilled chicken or steak on top of the vegetables.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the meat.
  9. Place the top half of the rolls on the sandwiches.
  10. Wrap each sandwich tightly in aluminum foil.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is heated through.
  12. Remove from the oven, unwrap the sandwiches, and serve hot.
