Mexican Torta
A delicious Mexican sandwich filled with flavorful ingredients and served on a crusty roll.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Cheese - 1/2 cup, shredded
- Grilled chicken or steak - 1 cup, sliced
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Jalapeno - 1, sliced
- Onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Lettuce - 4 leaves
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Avocado - 1, sliced
- Refried beans - 1/2 cup
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Crusty rolls - 2
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Slice the crusty rolls in half horizontally.
- Spread mayonnaise on both sides of the rolls.
- Spread refried beans on the bottom half of each roll.
- Layer avocado, tomato, lettuce, onion, jalapeno, and cilantro on top of the beans.
- Squeeze lime juice over the vegetables and season with salt and pepper.
- Add grilled chicken or steak on top of the vegetables.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese over the meat.
- Place the top half of the rolls on the sandwiches.
- Wrap each sandwich tightly in aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is heated through.
- Remove from the oven, unwrap the sandwiches, and serve hot.
