  3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
