M'hancha
M'hancha is a traditional Moroccan pastry made with phyllo dough, almond paste, and orange blossom water.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Almonds - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Orange blossom water - 1 tablespoon
- Egg - 1
- Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup
- Almond paste - 1 cup
- Butter - 1/2 cup, melted
- Phyllo dough - 1 package
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, mix together the almond paste, powdered sugar, egg, and orange blossom water until smooth.
- Lay out a sheet of phyllo dough and brush it with melted butter.
- Place a spoonful of the almond paste mixture at one end of the phyllo sheet.
- Roll the phyllo around the almond paste mixture, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Repeat with the remaining phyllo and almond paste mixture, creating a spiral shape.
- Brush the top of the pastry with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped almonds.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
