  1. In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon stick, and lemon peel. Stir until the sugar and cornstarch are dissolved.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens to a custard-like consistency.
  3. Pour the custard into a square dish lined with plastic wrap. Smooth the top and let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until firm.
  4. Once firm, cut the custard into squares. Dip each square in beaten egg, then in flour, and finally in breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the squares until golden brown on all sides.
  6. Drain the fried squares on paper towels, then dust with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar before serving.
