Julmust
Julmust is a traditional, non-alcoholic, fermented beverage usually consumed in Sweden during the Christmas season.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Carbonated water - To taste
- Yeast - 1 gram
- Spices - 1 gram
- Malt - 1 gram
- Hops - 1 gram
- Brown sugar - 100 grams
- Sugar - 300 grams
- Water - 1 liter
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, combine the water, sugar, brown sugar, hops, malt, and spices. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, add the yeast and stir until it is fully dissolved.
- Cover the pot and let it ferment for 48 hours at room temperature.
- After 48 hours, strain the mixture into a clean container, discarding the solids.
- Add carbonated water to taste, then refrigerate until chilled.
- Serve the Julmust cold.
