Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until softened and lightly browned.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Sprinkle half of the chopped anchovies over the potatoes.
  4. Spread half of the cooked onions over the anchovies. Season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, anchovies, and onions.
  6. Pour the heavy cream over the layers, ensuring it covers the potatoes.
  7. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top of the cream.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
  10. Serve hot as a main course or as a side dish.
