Indian Chana Masala

Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooked rice or naan bread - For serving
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Green chilies - 2, slit
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, chopped
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Chickpeas - 2 cups, cooked
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
- Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
- Add cooked chickpeas and salt. Stir to coat the chickpeas with the spices.
- Cover the pan and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and drizzle with lemon juice.
- Serve hot with cooked rice or naan bread.
