Let's Get Started

  1. In a large pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the pork belly and cook until browned, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic, onion, soy sauce, brown sugar, bay leaves, black peppercorns, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Add the star anise and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Continue to simmer until the pork is tender, about 10 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with steamed rice.
