Herbed Wild Rice
This herbed wild rice is a flavorful and healthy side dish that's easy to make and pairs well with any protein.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Black pepper - To taste
- Fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, and rosemary) - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Butter - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 4 cups
- Wild rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the wild rice under cold water.
- In a large pot, bring the water and salt to a boil.
- Add the wild rice to the pot and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the water.
- While the rice is cooking, melt the butter in a small pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Stir in the chopped herbs and cook for another minute.
- When the rice is done, drain any excess water and return the rice to the pot.
- Add the herb and butter mixture to the rice and stir to combine. Season with black pepper to taste.
- Serve the herbed wild rice warm.
