Hawaiian Spam Musubi
Hawaiian Spam Musubi is a popular snack and lunch food in Hawaii composed of a slice of grilled Spam on top of a block of rice, wrapped together with nori in the tradition of Japanese omusubi.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Furikake - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Nori sheets - 4 sheets
- Sushi rice - 2 cups, cooked
- Spam - 1 can
Let's Get Started
- Slice the Spam into 8 equal pieces.
- In a pan over medium heat, fry the Spam slices until they are crispy and browned.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
- Brush the soy sauce mixture onto the fried Spam slices.
- Place a Spam slice on top of a block of rice, then sprinkle with furikake.
- Wrap the nori around the Spam and rice, sealing it with a little bit of water.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Serve the Spam musubi warm or at room temperature.
