Hawaiian Mac and Cheese
A tropical twist on the classic mac and cheese, featuring pineapple and ham.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Pineapple - 1 cup, diced
- Ham - 1 cup, diced
- Cheddar cheese - 2 cups, shredded
- Milk - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Butter - 1/4 cup
- Macaroni - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, then bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the cheese until melted. Add the ham, pineapple, salt, and pepper.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the saucepan and stir until well coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until bubbly and golden. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
