Green Bean Potato Gratin

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes, then gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a boil and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in half of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. In a large baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, half of the green beans, and half of the cheese sauce. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, green beans, and sauce.
  7. Top with the remaining cheese and bake for 60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
