Gratin de Chou Fleur Au Jambon
This delicious French dish combines cauliflower, ham, and creamy cheese sauce, baked to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
- Gruyere cheese - 1 cup, grated
- Milk - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Ham - 200g, diced
- Cauliflower - 1 large head, cut into florets
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Steam the cauliflower florets until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in half of the grated Gruyere cheese. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- In a baking dish, layer the cauliflower and diced ham. Pour the cheese sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle the remaining grated Gruyere cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the gratin is golden and bubbly.
