Fried Chicken
Crispy and flavorful fried chicken that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - 4 cups (for frying)
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Buttermilk - 2 cups
- Chicken pieces - 8 pieces (legs, thighs, or wings)
Let's Get Started
- Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Make sure all the chicken pieces are coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the chicken pieces from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, making sure to coat all sides evenly.
- Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding the pan. Fry for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the fried chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining chicken pieces.
- Serve the fried chicken hot and enjoy!
