French Macarons
These delicate and colorful French macarons are a classic treat made with almond flour and filled with a variety of flavors.
Ingredients - Serves 24
- Buttercream frosting - 1 cup
- Food coloring - As desired
- Granulated sugar - 1/4 cup
- Egg whites - 3 large
- Powdered sugar - 1 cup
- Almond flour - 1 1/2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the egg whites into the almond flour mixture until fully combined.
- Add food coloring as desired and mix until evenly colored.
- Transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a round tip and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Tap the baking sheet on a flat surface to release any air bubbles.
- Let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to form a skin.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until the macarons are set and have formed feet.
- Let the macarons cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Pipe buttercream frosting onto half of the macarons and sandwich with the remaining macarons.
