Flaó is a traditional dessert from Ibiza. It's a sweet tart made with fresh cheese, mint and anise.

Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. To make the pastry, mix the flour, butter, sugar and egg together in a bowl until it forms a dough. Wrap in cling film and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4.
  3. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and use it to line a 23cm tart tin. Prick the base with a fork and chill for 15 minutes.
  4. To make the filling, beat the cheese, sugar, eggs, mint and anise liqueur together in a bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the filling into the pastry case and bake for 50 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden.
  6. Allow to cool before serving.
