Flao
Flaó is a traditional dessert from Ibiza. It's a sweet tart made with fresh cheese, mint and anise.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Anise liqueur - A splash
- Fresh mint leaves - A handful
- Eggs - 6
- Sugar - 200g
- Fresh cheese - 500g
- For the filling -
- Egg - 1
- Sugar - 50g
- Unsalted butter - 125g
- Plain flour - 250g
- For the pastry -
Let's Get Started
- To make the pastry, mix the flour, butter, sugar and egg together in a bowl until it forms a dough. Wrap in cling film and chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and use it to line a 23cm tart tin. Prick the base with a fork and chill for 15 minutes.
- To make the filling, beat the cheese, sugar, eggs, mint and anise liqueur together in a bowl until smooth.
- Pour the filling into the pastry case and bake for 50 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden.
- Allow to cool before serving.
