Fish Fry
This crispy and flavorful fish fry is made with fresh fish fillets coated in a seasoned batter and deep-fried to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cornmeal - 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Fish fillets - 4 pieces
Let's Get Started
- In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together the beaten egg and milk.
- Dip each fish fillet into the flour mixture, coating both sides evenly.
- Then dip the coated fillet into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Return the fillet to the flour mixture and coat again, pressing the flour mixture onto the fish to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the coated fish fillets into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried fish from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve hot with tartar sauce or lemon wedges.
