Croquetas de Jamón

Ingredients - Serves 6
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Salt - To taste
- Egg - 2, beaten
- Breadcrumbs - 100g
- All-purpose flour - 100g
- Butter - 50g
- Milk - 500ml
- Ham - 200g, finely chopped
Let's Get Started
- In a saucepan, heat the milk until hot but not boiling.
- In a separate pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Gradually add the hot milk to the flour mixture, stirring continuously until you have a smooth, thick sauce.
- Add the finely chopped ham to the sauce and mix well. Season with salt to taste.
- Transfer the mixture to a shallow dish and let it cool completely.
- Once the mixture is cooled, shape it into small croquettes using your hands.
- Dip each croquette into beaten egg, then coat it with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 180°C (350°F).
- Fry the croquettes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Remove the croquettes from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve the croquetas de Jamón hot as an appetizer or snack.
