Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and broth until smooth.
  4. Cook the mixture until thickened, about 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped ham, grated cheese, salt, and pepper.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a shallow dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  7. Shape the chilled mixture into small cylinders or balls.
  8. Dip each croqueta into the beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs to coat.
  9. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Fry the croquetas in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  11. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  12. Serve hot as an appetizer or snack.
