Crispy Fried Chicken
This crispy fried chicken is coated in a seasoned flour mixture and then deep-fried to golden perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Cayenne pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Buttermilk - 2 cups
- Chicken pieces - 8, bone-in, skin-on
Let's Get Started
- Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator.
- In another large bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off, and then dredge in the flour mixture, making sure all sides are coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
- Fry the chicken pieces in batches for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F.
