Country Fried Steak

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Season the steak with salt and pepper, then dredge in flour.
  2. Beat the eggs with 1/4 cup of milk, then dip the floured steaks in the egg mixture and dredge in flour again.
  3. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the steaks until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the steaks and drain on paper towels. Keep warm.
  5. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of the oil in the skillet. Stir in 2 tablespoons of the flour left over from dredging.
  6. Gradually mix in the beef broth and 1/2 cup of milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Lower the heat and simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.
  7. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the steaks smothered with the gravy.
