Cider Braised Pork Belly
This cider-braised pork belly is tender, flavorful, and perfect for a special occasion or a cozy dinner at home.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaves - 2
- Chicken stock - 1 cup
- Apple cider - 2 cups
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Pork belly - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- Season the pork belly with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat. Add the pork belly and sear on all sides until browned. Remove from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.
- Add the apple cider, chicken stock, bay leaves, and thyme. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the pork belly to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.
- Braise for 3 hours, or until the pork is tender.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
