Cider Braised Pork
This cider braised pork is a flavorful and tender dish, perfect for a cozy dinner.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaves - 2
- Chicken broth - 1 cup
- Apple cider - 2 cups
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Pork shoulder - 2 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the pork and sear on all sides until browned.
- Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.
- Add the apple cider, chicken broth, bay leaves, and thyme. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the pork to the pot. Cover and reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer for about 2 hours, or until the pork is tender and can be easily pulled apart with a fork.
- Remove the bay leaves and thyme. Shred the pork and serve with the braising liquid.
