Carnitas Tacos
These carnitas tacos are made with slow-cooked pork shoulder, fresh cilantro, and pickled onions.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Pickled onions - 1/2 cup
- Cilantro - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Corn tortillas - 12
- Chicken broth - 1 cup
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Orange - 1, juiced
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Pork shoulder - 2 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Season the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, oregano, and cumin.
- Place the pork in a slow cooker and add the minced garlic, orange juice, lime juice, and chicken broth.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with a fork.
- Heat the corn tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat until warm.
- Fill each tortilla with shredded pork, chopped cilantro, and pickled onions.
- Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side.
