Boulangère Potatoes
Boulangère Potatoes is a classic French dish named after the bakery ovens in which it was traditionally cooked. It's a lighter alternative to dauphinoise, but still has plenty of flavor.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Butter - 50g, melted
- Chicken stock - 500ml
- Thyme - 2 sprigs, leaves picked
- Onions - 2 large, thinly sliced
- Potatoes - 1kg, peeled and thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas 4.
- Layer half the potato and onion slices in a baking dish, seasoning each layer and sprinkling with some thyme.
- Pour over half the stock, then repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used up.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top layer.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and crisp.
