Ingredients - Serves 12

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until warm (about 110°F).
  3. Pour the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out to a 1/2-inch thickness.
  7. Using a round cookie cutter, cut out doughnut shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Cover the doughnuts with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  10. Bake the doughnuts for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Remove the doughnuts from the oven and let them cool completely.
  12. Using a piping bag, fill each doughnut with custard filling.
  13. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate and heavy cream together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  14. Dip the top of each filled doughnut into the chocolate glaze, allowing the excess to drip off.
  15. Place the glazed doughnuts on a wire rack to set the chocolate glaze.
  16. Serve and enjoy!
