- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Nutmeg - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
- Granulated sugar - 3/4 cup
- Apples - 6 cups, peeled, cored, and sliced
- Pie crust - 2 (9-inch) store-bought or homemade
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the apples.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Dot the diced butter over the top of the apple filling.
- Cover the pie with the second pie crust. Trim any excess crust and crimp the edges to seal.
- Cut a few slits on the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Sprinkle turbinado sugar over the top crust.
- Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
